Drive by Cuttings!

I am not safe on the roads, or better yet no tree is safe from me.

While driving in Mountain View today I saw a few golden ginkgos in the center island of the road. Of course I circled back to appreciate the unusually (beautiful) small leaves—Hawkeye at 25 mph. I circled back, parked and picked… a small branch.

Kept in water (next to my handy shovel) and planted with hormone, wired to immobilize, roots resting on pumice, misted, bagged, and nestled on a rooting warming mat.

Cross my fingers. Will learn from this attempt. If no luck (too late to root), will return to that street in spring 😬.
