Ginkgo Cutting Propagation
Tips for propagating ginkgo trees from cuttings:
Take cuttings: In midsummer, cut a 6-inch length of new stem from a young or half-ripe tree.
Prepare the cuttings: Dip the cut end of the stem into a rooting hormone to stimulate root growth.
Plant the cuttings: Put the cuttings in a well-draining potting mix, such as a mixture of peat and perlite. Bury a couple of leaf nodes in the soil.
Create a humid environment: Cover the cuttings with a plastic bag or put them in a misting chamber.
Maintain the right temperature: Keep the soil temperature around 70–75°F (21–24°C).
Be patient: Cuttings should start taking root in as little as eight weeks.
