Fretboard

  • Say the names of the notes out loud as you go back to the open string.

  • Take your time and think about the reverse order of the Chromatic scale. You know that you are correct if your open string is the same name as the twelfth fret you started on.

  • Say the names of the notes and work your way up the Low E string until you reach the name of the next open string: the A string. You will find this at the fifth fret.

  • Spend at least ten minutes a day saying out loud the chromatic scale as you work your way up to the twelfth fret, starting on the twelfth fret and working your way back, and repeating the process up high on the fretboard above the twelfth fret.
