Trident on Rock, #2322 G

Trident Maple, pre-bent from WCB. Applied some muck (peat & loam/clay) and sphagnum, under dark plastic wrap.

Feb 2025 Repot/Inspect Roots

Selfishly wanting to move the terracotta pot to another tree, and to inspect the root over rock progress of 20 months.

Soil was intentionally very sandy, but the roots did not grow well in sand but thrived at the bottom of the pot—running around for about 20 inches. I cut them back and replaced in more aggregate and organic mix. Angled the stone.

Roots against the rock were thicker and doing well—but the stone did not offer much to cling to—so time and root development against the rock is needed. Or next repot will wrap new roots around the rock to hug the rock contours.
