Second attempt—10x 8"-10" Tall (eBay: scenichillfarm) $20. First attempt in late 2022, did not recover dormancy.
Nursery sent replacements. Longer growing season to acclimate. Cautious that larch need a cold dormancy.
Healthy, clipped apex for lower branch creation; allowed lower beaches to grow long, originally wired trunk movement.
Late July 2024 clean up
Generally pinch back new growth that extends > 1”. Will encourage bifurcation and force light inside and inner growth closer to the trunk.
Then I cleaned up any upward & downward branches, and cleaned up needles on the bottom side of larger branches. Reduced needles slows growth but encourages upward growth, creates negative space and allows light in.
