Creative core

In life we aspire to grow and evolve, to find purpose and joy. It’s a blessing to be able to apply our talents in our work and lives, especially as a grown-up. Some are still discovering our talents and interests, while others are surveying what those are for themselves.

My hope is that you may glean what I have gleaned from others. I hope you may be inspired as much as being informed. For some it may feel this to be too early to think about, for others too late—fear not. Be curious and open minded about your future. Periodically revisit your goals and what brings you joy—and pivot as needed.

Who am I? I am a father of two (when writing, both are teens). I am a son of a painter/ engineer, and my career path has been inventor/ creator/ leader and craftsman. I paint in oils, exploring pottery and sculpting, working with wood, training small trees, trying to learn guitar—a life long student, trying to be well rounded.

Even as my primary career benefited by my creative talents and passions, it ended up along a technical vein. But I had additionally pursued and expressed myself outside of my work.

Do not feel constrained, defeated, or resigned to follow a strict career/life path. I can attest that in the 21st century, career paths are less formally defined and dynamic. Technology and the tools we use, products and services we can offer change at career opportunities quickly.

I hope this public blog can help point towards answers to your questions as you pursue joy. Thank you for reading.
