Fast Growth In Pots

Michael Hagedorn noted that the myth of no plants thicken trucks once in a bonsai pot is not true for all species. Here are a few notable pot-happy trees.

  • Larch

  • Wisteria

  • Trident

  • Styrax

Contrary to those fast growing species, the following are the opposite and growth should be invested in the ground:

  • Spruce, especially Ezo Spruce

  • Juniper

  • Hornbeam

  • Beech

  • Stewart’s

  • Atlas Cedar
