Breaking my Heart (and branches)
Far too often in my NA ent wiring and bending do I break branches or saplings. This is still possibly by advanced bonsaists, as bending up to the limit is often attempted. Some noted that the sound of some cracking sounds is a signal of bending (heart wood) as long as the branch does not break through. Improper and unsupported wiring (too loose), or not loosening the wood side-to-side before bending up or down can help prevent breaks.
If a break occurs place cut paste and wrap in pre-stretched graft tape—tightly. Then wrap in wire.
