Summer Passion Project

If you are reading this as a school year ends, and you are looking for some inspiration for the summer, think of a passion project.

Think broadly and playfully as to what problems in the world needs more thought and solutions? What unheard story or underappreciated aspects in your life needs more attention?

Jot down a few of ideas in your journal, reflect on them, circle one and two of greater interest.

Extend lines, create bubbles for bullet points of aspects or details associated with the possible passion project. Ask yourself why? List out why it’s important or what is lacking.

Then, for each of those you might extend lines and bubbles and words of association as to “how?” If a solution is to shed light on a topic, or to show a different perspective, or help others to empathize on the topic—this could be done by documentary short, a song, a graphic novel, painting, or sculpture.

If any of those resonate with you circle it and start to list the “what.” Think of this as a campaign. Is there A series of vets or sketches that in communicating your message? It might be a poster or a short.

Stretch: take risks make a number of rough, thumbnail, sketches, or iPhone videos. It’s not how clean the product is. It’s getting a few down to reflect on. If you want to refine it later, you can; but suggested after you have explored a number of sketches.
