Val & workshop peers suggest eliminating the straight trunk and build lower foliage.
Bent knee trunk is unique but unatural for a redwood. What could be the story?
The straight trunk after accentuates the bend
Suggest cutting to just above the bend, with no more than 2β of straight trunk (shape or bevel)
New growth will sprout from the cut cambium
Can air-layer the top
Consider angling the top more vertical
Unique shape becomes less natural but more artistic; may incorporate Shari or Jin

Val M: With the strong curve, thinking your best bet is to make a shorter tree and donβt use the straight section. Would be interesting to air layer that off for a second tree.
Dropped branch is a nice plan for the design; I like it.

May be too tall of a tree, and the Jin may be temporary.
