• Do not casually over-fertilize, or one can burn the roots and kill a tree.

• Especially deciduous and use of high salt fertilizer, like Osmocoat or MiracleGro.

[Update Spring 2024]

Trees in development are getting about a teaspoon/mo of Osmocoat and watering. Occasional liquid fertilizer, like ___ also added to boost growth.

In retrospect at my small trees, I have been too stingy with fertilizing or that my plants did not respond in kind. Used BioGold and periodically sprayed with Bonsai-Pro 7-9-5. Slow release was very slow, not regular and possibly not enough for trees in development.

Right now it is Nov 3 and freakishly 80F this week. So the growing season is still here, only 1% have changed from green. My last chance.

Following Jonas Dupuich (Bonsai Tonight) and a variation of Boon’s nuggets, I used teabags from an Asian market (3 cents/ea) with a table spoon each of Bone Meal and Cottonseed Meal. Used toothpicks to prevent critters—tonight is the test.
