Redwood Air-layer (attempts)

Started in the summer of 2024, did not strike roots. Attempted new hormones. In Dec, one had connected across the 1-1/2” wide cleared cambium and was alive. I severed that and cleaned some of the cambium edge, applied new hormone and replaced with a soil in pot air-layer. Misted and bagged the foliage. Not the best time of year, but hope the callus or root starts will grow into the soil to survive. A small dose of Superthrive.

The next redwood was to cut short for a Shohin size, trying to salvage the healthy top. Minor roots started but nothing sustaining. Attempted to separate and screwed to a grow box, hoping the roots will take off. Bad time of year. May move to a heat mat. Growth hormone, some mycorrhizae and growth hormone, fresh soil; left the sphagnum in place and pumice around that layer. A small dose of Superthrive.
