A. Palmatum Mikasa Yatsubusa (AL)

Air layered Acer Palmatum ‘Mikawa yatsubusa’ Japanese Maple, from my yard. First attempt failed—callused over; second try over winter rooted. Late February cut and spread out roots over felt disc. Wood compost, manure and Perlite. Roots radially 3/4 of the trunk—re-scared and hormone powder.

Eventually, will prune off straight apex and divert to the smaller new apex for taper.
