Age-to-Age

Prompt can be used for visual, performance, or written medium.

Either from your personal experiences or observed/studied, express an experience from more than one perspective of age. For example, as a child, as a young adult, and as an elderly person.

Separate each age perspective as a separate paragraph, scene, series of images. Close ups, physical motions, references.

Then transition to the next without any explicit narration or description that an age change has occurred. What hints, descriptors, or traits can help?

How might color, expression, posture, diction, optimism, etc change between ages?

Variations:

  • Comparing class or education

  • Contrasting genders

  • Differences and commonalities across political divides

  • Personify an inanimate object(s)

  • What other contrasting perspectives may be fun to explore?
